There's only four teams involved in football's top honours these days, so what's it like to win silverware every season? This is the blog of one football fan who decided to, fully and unconditionally, do the unthinkable and change the football team he supported to spend one season at the top... AND NOW HE'S DOING A SIMILAR THING FOR EURO 2008 WITH A MATE BECAUSE THE SEASON'S FINISHED AND THEY'RE BOTH BORED

Milan or bust?

Milan or bust?

03/03/08

I know it’s not exactly Newcastle blowing a 12-point lead, but it has still been a royal cock-up. Five or six points clear in the Premier League… and in about a week, it’s gone.

But, perhaps more worryingly, I found myself dancing around the place on Saturday when Bendtner’s equaliser went in. It was a massive relief. I don’t know about other Arsenal fans, but I feel like the whole world is against me right now.

Man Utd are unstoppable at the moment. And AC Milan? Well, it looks unlikely doesn’t it. Wenger says he’s not worried that Abebayor and Bendtner don’t get on. Well, The Silly Season bloody well is…

The one potential saviour is that AC Milan are very old and very slow, and Arsenal have enough pace to catch them out on the break.

If they do somehow manage to win something this season, it feels like it will be one of the sweetest victories in recent years. Or perhaps I’m just getting caught up in all the drama. Or maybe I do care after all.

So, it’s off to the San Siro… OK, the pub, with The Family to save my season (possibly).

Score prediction: AC Milan 1-1 Arsenal

There is a strange part of me that wants you not to care even a jot about Arsenal, but then another part that thinks it's really interesting to think that (and I'm not suggesting you no longer care for Norwich) you perhaps can start to care about another team if you just train yourself. My mum & I were talking about what it is about West Ham I actually support. Players change, managers change, owners change, grounds change, even names change. Does that mean I stick with what was ostensibly my club? I don't know...

But after all of that, I wish Arsenal well tonight. It will be hard, but I hope you do it. My uncle lives in Milan, and whilst being a staunch West Ham fan (yes, with a season ticket - fool), I think he might be going to this match. He I think is also gunning for you (pardon the pun, please do).

Also, have you noticed that I've started to say "you", like you're a part of Arsenal? I say "we" when referring to West Ham too... Ever slipped up and said "we" when talking about Arsenal?

The Silly Season:

Oh yes, frequently, which may suggest that Arsenal's trials and tribulations are having some sort of effect on me.

Your absolutely right - I'm really intrigued to see whether a person can consciously change their team through will alone. To see whether I can do it even. The problem is, I'm not sure if I want to.

This is definitely worth expanding on, but not right now because I've got to get to the pub in time to see Arsenal lose. Again!
