There's only four teams involved in football's top honours these days, so what's it like to win silverware every season? This is the blog of one football fan who decided to, fully and unconditionally, do the unthinkable and change the football team he supported to spend one season at the top... AND NOW HE'S DOING A SIMILAR THING FOR EURO 2008 WITH A MATE BECAUSE THE SEASON'S FINISHED AND THEY'RE BOTH BORED

Score! The Silly Season has a ticket for the Carling Cup semi-final against Spurs.

Many thanks to The Family for getting hold of that for me. I tell you, it relieves the pressure I’ve been feeling recently. As players might say, “It’s just good to just get back to football” – rather than being chased by Norwich fans or being shouted at in a studio.

Christ, I’ve got to go through all that build up about hating Spurs again…

Well, good. It’s always going to be exciting. Also, I’m in a cup semi-final. And, if I get nothing else out of this season, it’s been a pleasure to beat Spurs on a regular basis after spending 20+ years being hammered by them as a Norwich fan.

I’ve really been feeling the betrayal karma in the past few days. Feel a bit like I’ve forever tainted my support of Norwich. I feel like I’ll never been forgiven. Almost as if I can never set foot on Carrow Road’s hallowed Barclay End ever again. It was all just getting too much. Until, that is, a full-strength bunch of incompetent idiots nearly lost to Bury at home. Bury.

Score prediction for Wednesday: it’ll be nothing like as exciting as the league match. Arsenal 1-0 Spurs

Score! #2 My score prediction radar is back on form. OK, so the Norwich one was a little off, but the Arsenal score was right. Good job I completely forgot to put any money on it then…

Five Live audio
Sorry I didn’t put this up on Sunday. I promise I’ll never lie about when I’m going to do stuff again.

Here it is… The massacre actually went on for seven and a half minutes. Seemed longer funnily enough…

Slowly you are exposing yourself as just another glory hunter, whose hollow life is leading him to bask to the reflected glory of a big club. You are no different to any of them - so much for a social experiment.

Norwich and proud. You have well and truly missed the point.

The Silly Season:

I was only joking about Bury. Norwich's form doesn't stop me feeling guilty.

I was at Grimsby when City lost 3-0 in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Don't tell me I haven't suffered!

Are you the real Ian Culverhouse?

People need to lighten up, right? It's just an experiment. I don't think you were too badly treated on the radio. You didn't name your blog though.
Maybe I have too much sympathy for you, as a Guernsey-based Arsenal fan.

The Silly Season:
I know, I forgot to do that. I must be more assertive!

I agree with you, Richard, it is just an experiment. And you definitely don't have too much sympathy for me. More sympathy please…

Reading through past comments I'm pretty surprised how much hostility you are facing. I suppose if I was a Norwich fan I might understand things a bit more.

Anyway, I'm not sure about the Carling Cup. I mean, we lost out to Everton, but sometimes it seems a bit pointless. I wouldn't want to get rid of it, and I wouldn't change the way that it give a European plae, but when we had 'Boro and Bolton in the final a couple of years back it didn't really seem like a true reflection of the standard of English football, did it? I think teams actually take it a bit more seriouslt these days. Even if Arsenal have played their reserve side so far at every stage.

The Silly Season:
Yeah, I've had a bad run of publicity in a past few days.

Trust me, if you've not even come close to the final stages of a cup competition for more than 15 years, the Carling Cup becomes a big deal.

I know what you mean though… as a competition, it seems to generate zero excitement until the last five minutes of the final.

I just find it weird that some people dont understand the premise of silly season. Like big brother it is a social experiment, but with (by the sounds of the video) slightly more racist people.

I reckon that the radio was too bad. They were being a bunch of tools but you sounded like you came through unscathed.

The Silly Season:
Cheers mate...

I know, I'm kind of surprised at the reaction of some people. I can sort of see why Norwich fans would be p*ssed off - hurt pride and all that, but people must surely understand the idea behind it - aren't most fans gutted that they'll never see their team win anything again?

Yeah, everyone was a getting a little excited in that video, weren't they. There was definitely an atmosphere, as there was when I walked into that bloody studio.

Mate, what a bunch of tossers.

That's not proper journalism, that's pack hunting.

Who was that West Ham pillock? Was he Sam Delaney?

The Silly Season:

On the New Year's Day Five Live Massacre audio? Yeah, I think that was his name. I think he was the comedian guest. He wasn't funny…
