There's only four teams involved in football's top honours these days, so what's it like to win silverware every season? This is the blog of one football fan who decided to, fully and unconditionally, do the unthinkable and change the football team he supported to spend one season at the top... AND NOW HE'S DOING A SIMILAR THING FOR EURO 2008 WITH A MATE BECAUSE THE SEASON'S FINISHED AND THEY'RE BOTH BORED

Three trophies down

Three trophies down

I had a good feeling about Sunday…

For all the draws against supposedly inferior opposition or the injuries to key players, I was convinced we were going to win at Chelsea.

And, after the opening goal, I wasn’t the only one.

It did feel good. It felt right.

After the equaliser went in, however, I just felt guilty. Arsenal’s worst run of form for nine years (or seasons or whatever) must be my fault. I must have upset the football-supporting spacetime continuum by taking on this experiment.

I wasn’t the only one feeling the pain, as I watched the game away from The Family this time – instead with a Coventry, Nottingham Forest and Hibenian fan (who all wanted Arsenal to win for some reason).

But The Family were feeling the pressure too, judging by the texts I was receving every few minutes.

Still, clears the way for the Champions League…

And where was the usual gloating, all-too-frequent text from my Norwich-supporting mate, who has been so disgusted with my defection this season?

It didn’t arrive because, on the day Norwich get their biggest win of the season, he’s on holiday in… wait for it… the Canary Islands.

You couldn’t make it up…

What next? Official Arsenal dog shirts?

I was really annoyed on Sunday, actually. I wanted Liverpool to win and Arsenal to win, so it looks like I need to get some better luck. Seeing as Liverpool are gone (league-wise) and I wanted Arsenal to catch up, things really couldn't have gone much worse.

I did say that I thought Chelsea would finish second, though.

Maybe I just need to take all the Arsenal players out of my fantasy football team and stick in all the United team? That might work...

The Silly Season: Yeah I'd put all Utd players in. Secretly, when I play fantasy football, I use Utd players - they seem to be the most consistent point scorers. Haven't done a fantasy team this season though because my life's been turned upside down by this thing.

Second place is Chelsea's to lose now…

That's the league fucked.

I think we should sign Ronaldo (Christiano) to replace Flamini (Mathieu) next season. Right?

The Silly Season: brilliant idea. Except he's kind of already turned Arsenal down before hasn't he?

Anyway, chin up - it's not over yet. Remember '89, or whenever it was...

Can you do a huge favour and support all the big 4 teams next season? That way you may totally destroy the football suporting spacetime continuum and Norwich may win sonething???. A mate of mine at uni supports both the Arse and Chelski. No way does it (or ever) work like that but it seems to be upsetting the spacetime continuum as it looks like both teams will win sweet FA this season.

The Silly Season: If I thought, for one second, that Norwich would win something if someone supports all the Big Four clubs at the same time, I'd do it in a second.

I wonder if there is anyone who does. Maybe that's all we need to bring down the monopoly!
